The closest I've ever come to a triplicate. I needed an 8 count at the end of game 2 and got it. I then needed a XX8 finish in game 3. Going into the 10th I had everything calculated. The final ball I even tried to come in high in the pocket and left a 7 pin for a no tap 300 even though I didn't throw more than XX in a row the entire night.

We took the first 2 games until our opponents woke up taking game 3 and total pins by 7 (2707-2700) which gave them a 1 game roll off for the wildcard spot. Crazy drama late. We finish the season 95-114. Next week is playoffs and we're not playing for anything so I may try some stuff out.

Tonight was the most comfortable I've felt in my approach and release all year. It began with just telling myself to make quality shots and hit my mark even looking at my mark for a full second or two after the ball rolled over it. 

I began standing 11 and shooting 7-8 board and didn't move the entire night. I think I missed the pocket 3 times in 3 games. Also included was some of the most frustrating back end leaves on perfect pocket hits in game 3 (10 pin and 8 pin) in recent memory. My only open of the night was an abysmal 8 pin miss in the 7th frame of game 3 which cost me my 700.

Unfortunately we were up against an opponent who also hit the zone tonight. A 161 average bowler shot 622 and a 176 average bowler shot 630. We lost them all for the second straight week and our playoff chances are mute at this point which is ok because I found out half my team won't be able to bowl the final week of the season.

Too amped up game 1 leaving splits-o-plenty and wash outs throwing too hard or too soft couldn't find a comfortable speed. 2 of my 9 opens were a missed 10 pin and 4 pin the rest washouts and splits.
As a team we lost them all with the most brutal one being Game 3 where I XXXX'd out but we lost 821-823. This is going to put us back into the middle of the pack for the third third of the season. I think we're still mathematically alive with just a few weeks left but tonight was rough.

In lighter news for City tournament it was confirmed I finished 4th in Scratch Series (670), 3rd in All Events handicap (1883), and as a team we somehow finished in 4th place which is a shocker because we didn't bowl that great overall. 201.97 Average thru 26 weeks (78 games)

Averaged 1 open per game on some bad shots. I think I was high man again for the morning team event but I missed out on brackets because I showed up late from getting off work at 2:30 am and events began at 9 am. This sucked because I probably would have cashed. Did win $10 in the raffle again. The rest of our team struggled a bit so we probably won't place for team event.

The 700 drought is over! (Last league 700 series 10/27/15 (752)) 

Might be my cleanest night ever or at least in recent memory. I've gone a full night without an open frame before but it's been a long time. I had luck on my side on some of these strikes most notably the foundation frame (9th) of game 3 where my ball came in high leaving what should have been a 4-9 split but crazy pin action kicked the 4 bouncing it into the 9 that barely went into the pit. Insanely lucky. That put me on a XXXX bagger and pretty much clinched the 7. I then went X9/ in the 10th.

As a team we won game 1 945-911, lost game 2 839-919, and won game 3 892-844. We also took total pins by the narrowest of margins 2676-2674. Going 5-2 on the night we sit at 26-9 for the third third of the season and back above .500 for the year at 89-86.

On a side note it's extra special when you're up against the pro shop owner's team and beat him by 96 pins for series.

2017 USBC City Tournament results:
Doubles: 170/162/236 568 Series

Singles: 251/234/185 670 Series
Couldn't figure a damn thing out the first 2 games. In fact had 6 splits in the first 18 frames. Even had to strike out game 1 to hit 170. Game 2 was much of the same. Then game 3 moved to the 10 board and set the ball down right at the foul line with no loft and a ton of speed over the 7-8 boards and found a groove that continued into singles even after moving lanes. Game 6 I started to lose it and had an abysmal miss in the 9th frame going 81 with a 6-10 leave.

670 was highest singles series for today by 12 pins and good for 4th highest overall so far. Still have one more weekend though and the Team event is next Sunday. Also won $20 in the raffle, went +$6 in brackets and collected a plethora of towels.

2 of my 4 open frames were missed 10 pins as my run of consecutive converted 10 pins ends at 16. Lane 18 was out of control tonight with highway robbery to pretty much everyone. So many weird happenings tonight including at one point all 4 bowlers on lanes 17,18,19, and 20 leaving a 10 pin and then they proceeded to go 0 for 4 in converting the spare. Including 2 pocket back end leaves where pins slid a full position much like the 

Our team went 5-2 on the night only losing game 2 by a mere 8 pins after 3 of 4 bowlers struck out in the 10th. We woke back up game 3 breaking our last week's high handicap game (959) we shot a 976. We now sit at 14-7 for the third third of the season and 77-84 for the season.

We need to channel our Aaron Rodgers and "Run the table" if we want any chance at making the playoffs this year.

700 series still taunts me. I haven't rolled one in nearly a year. Missed the head pin in frame 4 of game 1 leaving a washout I couldn't convert. Only open frame of the night. 3 for 3 on 10 pins. It We won the first 2 games and then fell off game 3 getting blown out and then losing total pins by 1 flipping pin 2249-2248. 

Super frustrating as we could have gone 5-2 for the second consecutive week but instead go 4-3 knocking us from 1st for the third third of the season. 9-5 thru 2 weeks of the third third and still near the cellar at 72-83 for the season.

Another struggle this week. The main issue being ball speed I couldn't find the right speed the entire night. As a team we are also continuing to struggle. Only winning 1 game for what seems like a regular occurrence now if not getting swept. I'll try and turn it around tonight. Interestingly enough my average is up about a pin and a half from this point last season although last season I went off the final 10 weeks with 8 of 10 being 600+.

Well that amazing line I found yesterday during practice (200/258 2 game set) lasted me all of 2 frames. Couldn't find any route to the pocket at all the entire night. I don't remember being this confused/frustrated by the lane conditions in a long time. Never more than XX in a row. 16 Spares is a season high.

I felt like I threw 6 games tonight not 3 and it felt more like a 522 than a 582. Still, keeping it clean all but 3 frames keeps the average from dropping too much. We lost all but one game and continue to wallow in the cellar of the 2nd third of the season at 15-34 and 55-64 for the season.

2nd highest series of the season (695 week 13). Only open frame of the night was a missed 10 pin game 1. I feel like it's a mental block at this point on trying to reach a 700. First ball of the 10th frame all 3 games was my downfall.

We ended up losing all games and points partially due to one of our opponents shooting a 630 series who had a 170ish average. I guess we're saving it for the 3rd 3rd of the season.

240/225/194 659 Series with an 18/11/3/2 line. 4 for 5 on 10 pin conversions.

Won the 1st 2 games and then game 3 fell apart started leaving 10 pins and a pocket 8-10 split. We lost totals when a mid average bowler shot a 233. 13-22 for the 2nd third of the season and just above .500 for the year at 53-52.

9 in a row at one point between games 1 and 2.
We couldn't catch a break though and lost them all because our opponents anchor went off with a 184/258/279 721 Series. I've missed rolling a 700 series 3 times in 4 days. Missing it by 6 pins, 19 pins, and 5 pins. Still, highest game and series I've shot this season.
199.21 Average thru 39 games (13 weeks) which is not far off my 2015-16 Season finish of 201.80. Gotta stay locked in next week.

Never bowled at Tall Pines in Paradise before. But the lanes were good and the oil patterns were good. Had to throw slower than I'm used to all morning but I was getting carry like I've never experienced bowling in Chico. It's no wonder they hold these tournaments more often in Oroville and Paradise because honestly the Chico lanes and oil patterns are shit quality compared to what's available not so far away.

I hit pocket flush and left a ringing 10 pin on my 11th ball of game 3 in doubles missing a 700 by 6 pins. Then I fell apart late in game 3 of Singles opening in the 9th and 10th frames throwing my worst shots of the entire tournament. I couldn't mentally dominate and reach that 700 series that's been out of reach since February.

Doubles partner shot 615 putting us at 1309 scratch and after adding in our handicap I'm hoping we place and cash at least in doubles. Singles I don't think is going to be good enough.

Throwing 20 strikes tonight and only shooting a 611 is pretty bad. Couldn't string anything more than XXX together with splits arriving at the worst of times. My teammate on the other hand went off with a 767 series. He had the front 9 game 2 and left a 10 pin that he couldn't convert. Then game 3 he had the front 10 and came in a hair high on his 11th ball and left a 4 pin. We took all 7 and are 21-0 the last 3 weeks however it wasn't enough to win the 1st 3rd of the season. Still we sit at 40-30 on the season which is a good spot to be headed into the 2nd 3rd of the season.

No ten pins tonight! Game 2 I had the front seven XXXXXXX and then proceeded to job it in the 8th frame opening with a 72. Finished fairly strong though. Fell apart game 3 but miraculously we took all 7 for the 4th week in a row when our opponents' anchor bowler missed a 5 pin in the 10th frame and we won game 3 by 13 pins. 28-0 the past 4 weeks and our season win loss record sits at 47-30 after beginning the season in the cellar.

Began the night throwing the same line I finished last week with and it worked for a moment and then my release went all out of wack again. Lanes insanely dry as we moved into game 3, started throwing as hard as possible outside the 5 board and was able to salvage a 200 game to end the night. The team we bowled struggled big time (one bowler shot a 399 series) and we were able to take all games and totals 7-0 on the night and back to .500 for the 1st third of the season at 28-28.

207/243/204 654 Series 20/11/2/2 line. Second game I XXXX'd out to win it for our team by 15 pins. Nice bounce back night from the continuous nightmare that was the past 3 weeks. Finally got my release and speed down pretty well. Only 2 open frames on the night both being pocket 7-10 splits. Some bad luck there as I could have made a run at decent run at 700. 195.50 Average through 18 games (6 weeks)

Brutal start to the night as I continued to throw too hard and miss the headpin on oily lane conditions outside the 10 board. 4 of my 5 open frames were in game 1. Settled down toward the end of game 1 with a XXXX finish and Game 3 was an all mark game. We got an 8th team which will be nice and nobody will have to bowl themselves for the season.

Missed some single pins tonight which was frustrating but expected as I've only bowled twice since the Spring Fling Tournament. 210.66 Average thru 3 games (1 week)

House manager stated beforehand that the oil patterns should be more consistent this season as they are supposed to get an upgrade in oil machines. We shall see. Tonight was nice I only moved once at the beginning of game 2 about 2 boards and threw the same line most of the night with the only variable being a bit more loft on the ball as the pattern dried out.

2 weeks until playoffs. On a side note, my teammate threw the worst series I've ever seen him throw. 445 series. He had 4 strikes the entire night. Crazy considering he threw a 770 series just 3 weeks ago. Also Nobody threw higher than 289 during city tournament. So 288 was 2nd best. I cashed in both singles and doubles taking home a combined $47 bucks. Word.

Someone shot 289 earlier in the day but I believe 288 is 2nd best overall at this time. I still expect someone to shoot 290+ the rest of today or tomorrow.

715 could be up there, again we'll have to wait and see.

For some reason I bowl better during this tournament (my 3rd year I think) 288 is like 40 pins better than my high league game this season.

End of the first third as position round was tonight and we were the #1 seed facing #2 for a playoff spot. Our records were identical at 49-14 as well as our team handicap identical at 116. So we were bowling scratch tonight. Never seen that before. Then we went off. 

As a team we needed to win 2 of 3. We won them all. 927-834 992-967 and 1005-925. Teammates shot 686 and 565 series' as well. We clinched a playoff spot for March. But alas 752 any other season probably would have been good for high series but this year a few weeks ago someone shot the highest series I've ever seen live. 798.

Another interesting stat- That's 6 consecutive games without leaving a legitamite split. (I did leave a 4-7 split tonight but converted it)
Could have shot my 7 if I would have struck out in the third game but ball came off the hand too slow. Still 3rd game was an all mark game. Our team took 2 of 3 games and total pins. My teammate had the front 9 and then left a 10 pin in the 10th and couldn't convert. Finished with a 267.

44-12 on the season and clinging to first place by a single game thru 7 weeks.

As for the Team roll off we failed miserably as we do every year. Through the first game we were in first place but then game 3 the rest of my teammates fell off hard throwing really under average. We came in 4th out of 4 but still finished the season with 131 points which is more than I've ever seen on this league.
I also cleaned up in the sweepers (extra cash bonus for high game/series this week) with 1st place in both. As well as cash bonus for season high game 298. You can't win more than one category to be fair to everyone. So individually a solid night.

If tonight would have counted towards season average I would finish with 19,774 total pin fall through 93 games and a 212.62 average.

Valley League 3/17/15

Tonight I found out that they discontinued the 11 in a row plaque. In fact the only awards the USBC give out anymore is rings for 300's and 800's. I was bummed out but then I stated "I guess they do that for motivation" Then I proceeded to throw the front 10 game 1. With 10 in a row I turn around and declare "What are you doing? stop watching me and bowl." Hah. Then the 11th throw was even worse off my hand than the one last week after the front 11. So pissed I blurted out in disgust the moment the ball left my hand. 

Game 1 Line XXXXXXXXXX7/ 

Started the 2nd game strong and a glimpse of 800 flashed through my mind which wasn't a good thing. Then I went 9- in the 10th frame of the 2nd game after leaving a pocket 7 pin and then not converting losing it for our team by a few pins. Missed a 10 pin in frame 6, but still bounced back game 3 and we took went 5-2 winning 2 games and total pins. Ending the regular season at 131-79 which is a PR for our team. I don't know if a Valley League team has cracked the 130 point mark before. We did. Anyway here's the final line before playoffs next week:

287/226/236 749 Series 25/5/2/0 line. 

Also ending the season and obliterating my previous average PR. 19,121 total pinfall through 90 games (30 weeks) and a 212.46 average.

Brunswick Aura Paranormal best purchase ever. It is house oil however. I don't know if you guys bowl on different oil patterns or not.

Came in high on the 12th ball even though in my head I'm repeating "Keep the speed up" over and over again. I think it would be better if everyone kept bowling instead of the entire bowling alley going dead silent. My fault though, I have to learn to mentally dominate. Each time I put myself in these situations the pressure is less.

The gouge in my ball was buffed out as best it could but they have to keep it another week to seal the rest of it. It actually worked out because I threw it tonight and it was cleaned and buffed down to it's original state and in practice it was so much more aggressive I thought I was in for difficult night. It worked out and I was carrying nicely game 2. In fact all eleven in a row were flush. No luck strikes or breaks. 211.17 Average thru 29 weeks (87 games).

Game 3 I had 49 in the 5th frame and finished with XXXXXX8. If I would have struck out I would have shot 600 even. Not a great performance. My left knee is killing me. Get to go back Tuesday night for 3 more.

248/212/199 659 Series 23/10/2/2 Line. No 10 pins on the night for the first time in forever. Most brutal frame was opening in the 9th game 2. Also had a chance to end game 3 with a five bagger but deja vu from Sunday as one of my best balls of the night left the stone 8 pin. Could have been better but a solid night. We only took game 3 though and have fallen off these last 2 weeks going 2-12.

203/195/211 609 Series. 16/11/4/0 Line (Strikes/Spares/Opens/Splits) 205.85 Average through 54 games. First time all season I've gone split free. 2 of first 3 frames were opens. Then I took my knee brace off (which I'm not used to wearing) and settled in. 2 for 3 on 10 pin conversions. 

Took 1 of 3 and totals (3 points) 24-32 for the 2nd third of the season and 80-46 overall. We won the first third so already locked our playoff spot down. 

Guy two lanes to my left shot 16 in a row at one point and a 289. We got done early but I saw his first ball of the 3rd game was a 7-10 leave.

Midway Game 2- Flat 10,Flat 10,Ringing 10, and finally solid 8 on my best ball of the series. 2 missed 10 pins games 1 and 2. Then Game 3 began experimenting with loft and it was X or Split until the 8th frame. Had to XXXX out to shoot 190.

Luckily my book average was from last season (201) so I shot over my average as did everyone on our team. We should place somewhere in the top 5 hopefully. Also gained entry to a raffle for a new bowling ball.

Looked up and realized I just needed 2 pins to win the third game but a X to beat my teammate by 1 pin for the second straight week. Buried the pocket and went 9/X. Night was a struggle and buried the pocket a handful of times leaving back end pins. 7's 9's and 10's. 219/246/199 664 Series with a 20/13/1/1 line. 208.57 Average thru 63 games. 

Only 1 open frame on the night, I missed a 10 pin 2nd frame game 3. Our team took 2 of 3 again and totals. 96-51 on the season and 5-2 thru 1 week of the third third of the season. Had a trick shot (aka got lucky) on a 4-7-8 split in the third game. Bowling right handed I grazed the 4 pin which bounced off the wall kicking the 7 just enough to fall into the 8. It was truly a "Harlem Bowl-trotters" moment.

Tuesday Night Men's Valley League 1/6/15

277/234/181 692 Series. 207.93 Average thru 60 games

The most excruciating snub of a seven I have experienced. I got tired game 3 and mentally broke down late. I guttered in the 8th, 2nd ball was ten in the pit so -/. 9th frame I left the dreaded
3-6-9-10 and chopped it. 63. Then in the 10th left a 6-10 and chopped the 6 as well. So terrible. Kicking it off with a 277 and tied for second high game on league just angered my teammate who proceeded to shoot the front 10 game 2 and finish with a 286. Our team took 2 of 3 and total pins so 5-2 on the night. Back to .500 for the second third of the season at 35-35 and 91-49 overall through 20 weeks.

12/30/14 Tuesday Night Men's Valley League

191/259/218 668 Series 21/8/4/2 Line 206.74 Average through 57 games. 

Crazy finishes tonight with me being the anchor. The lanes were ridiculously oily tonight and I had to have a bit more loft on my ball upon release and throw slower than I'm comfortable with. Game 1 I opened in the 10th and I thought I blew it for my team but come to find out we won by 2 pins. The new scoring system doesn't calculate like the old one and I'm too lazy to do the math to figure out where we are at. 

Figured things out game 2 with a X 8/ XXXX 9/ XX XXX line. 

Game 3 finished ridiculous as well as I had four in a row one ball into the 10th frame then left the Greek church on my 2nd ball in the 10th. Then proceeded to damn near pick it up as I carried the 7 pin and left only the 4. I look up not realizing we weren't as comfortable as I thought and we tied the 3rd game. So we go 2-0-1 (6-1) on the night and took total pins. 30-33 for the 2nd third of the season and 86-47 overall. 

All in all, a solid night.

2/24/2015 Valley League

225/209/213 647 Series. 17/14/2/1 line. Began the night with an open frame and ended the night with a 4-6 split. Everything in between was clean. Couldn't go on any runs and nothing more than XXX in a row all night as I struggled with my release point. Still we took 2 of 3 and total pins 26-23 for the third third of the season and 117-72 overall on the season.

Hello! So glad I found this site. I'd been tracking my League games on Google docs since 2005. Going to take a while to convert. I'm a recreational bowler but have been bowling since I was a kid. I'm currently throwing an Auro Paranormal. I threw with no thumb for years until I hurt my wrist about 7 years ago and had to re-learn with traditional finger tip grip. Current 2014-2015 average 206.02. 

High series ever recreational play (753) High game ever recreational play (298). High League series ever (I'll have to check but I think it's in the 740 range) High League game ever (290). Other highlights include two 7-10 conversions, One when I was 15 years old with a house ball. The other last year during practice before league began. Cheers!
